Шесть дел, которые рассматривались Верховным судом США [Supreme Court, U.S.] в марте 1877. Суд подтвердил конституционность регулирования штатом деятельности частных предприятий, когда эта деятельность затрагивает интересы населения, в том числе право властей устанавливать потолок цен. В 1869-74 по инициативе движения грейнджеров [Granger movement] в штатах Иллинойс, Айова, Висконсин и Миннесота были приняты законы ["Granger laws"], защищавшие фермеров от высоких цен монополистов (железнодорожных компаний, владельцев элеваторов). Компании выступили против этих законодательных актов в судах. Наиболее известным среди этих дел было дело "Манн против штата Иллинойс" [Munn v. Illinois]. В 1886 Суд оставил регулирование деятельности предприятий в компетенции властей штатов
